A dream of a Province
David Tneh
In the tropical darkness,
the slumbering orb lazes
while the incandescence of lamps
dim and flicker on pale faces
nodding at the foothills.
A void drapes and gnaws
at the periphery of men
who bask under an amber warmth.
A prayer escapes as joss sticks alight
rising above the red dragon roofs,
its spectre-like fumes twirl and fuse
with memories of the Three Gorges,
of Home, a village and a river –
reflections of a jade kingdom.
