This Silence
Linda Benninghoff
It is always the same silence I come to,
snow curving over a roof,
filling air, trees, wires, shutters--
when you know that you will have to keep
stretching this silence you find yourself in,
till it is large enough
to put both your hands through
and someone else's hands,
clap them together
till they ring like an opening door. |
