[the poetry billboard] - 'Moving Merlion' by Daniel Tan
Moving Merlion

Daniel Tan

enough spewing into this
sea and its people
I am slightly tired no more gush
hush i need a roar
too long on this cement watching out
while they move by me
why won't you move

it's time to go
the irons bars are ready
i need to grow feet

why am i talking?
you can't hear me only
your mobile rings
i have fins and a fine tail
i used to swim
silly cat don't you sneer whiskers
pin your crooked tail at me

i need to roar, again
thirsty, no more gush
it's time to move

why don't you let me go?
i am just that much tired
they still float by me
my fins are ready
